Hemorrhoidal disease does not follow the same course in every patient, and not every patient is suitable for the same type of procedure. In treating hemorrhoids we do not aim to perform needlessly aggressive procedures – our goal is to achieve the best possible functional result with the least possible invasiveness of the procedure.

How laser hemorrhoid surgery with the LHP® method works
It is a modern, maximally gentle and minimally invasive procedure. The procedure takes only 20–45 minutes and is performed on a day-surgery basis, so most patients go home the same day.
1. Preparation and anesthesia
After the initial proctological examination, the doctor proposes the optimal type of anesthesia – local or general – according to the extent of the disease and your health.
2. Insertion of the laser fiber
The surgeon inserts a special thin laser fiber directly into the hemorrhoidal node through a tiny incision.
3. Laser treatment
The thermal energy of the laser safely treats the tissue of the hemorrhoid. The node then shrinks and is naturally absorbed.
4. Mucopexy in advanced grades
In cases of more pronounced mucosal prolapse we combine the laser treatment with mucopexy – we gently lift the lining and fix it in its correct anatomical position.
5. Completing the procedure
Since no open wounds are created, no stitches are needed. You usually spend just 1–3 hours at the clinic.

Compared with classic surgery, laser hemorrhoid surgery with the LHP® method brings significantly less pain, faster healing and the option of going home on the day of the procedure. Most patients return to everyday life within just a few days.
What is mucopexy and when is it needed?
Mucopexy is a gentle lifting and fixation of the prolapsing rectal lining. It is most often used in more advanced grades of hemorrhoidal disease, when prolapse occurs. In selected patients, laser treatment alone may not be enough – in such cases we combine the LHP® method with mucopexy. Combined procedures are performed under general anesthesia on a day-surgery basis.
Type of anesthesia and choice of procedure
We choose the type of procedure and anesthesia individually, according to the extent of the disease and the patient’s anatomical findings. Smaller procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. In advanced prolapse grades or combined procedures we prefer surgery under general anesthesia on a day-surgery basis.

Frequently asked patient questions
Most patients return to their usual daily activities within 3 to 7 days. We recommend limiting heavier physical work and intense sport for approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
Post-operative pain is significantly lower compared with classic surgery. Most patients only need common painkillers for the first few days.
Smaller findings are treated on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. In more advanced grades we perform the procedure under general anesthesia on a day-surgery basis (you go home the same day).

The shrinking of the hemorrhoids is already noticeable within 1 to 3 weeks. The final effect settles in within 6 to 8 weeks after the procedure.
The price of the LHP® procedure is 1350 €. The final amount is determined individually, according to the extent and grade of the hemorrhoidal disease and any need for additional mucopexy.
In most cases as early as the next day. It is important to have enough fluids and fiber and to follow the post-operative recommendations.
The LHP® method is primarily intended for internal hemorrhoids. External components are treated individually, often with a combined approach.
The risk of complications with LHP® is very low. Most commonly it involves temporary bleeding or discomfort. Serious complications (e.g. impaired sphincter function) are significantly less frequent than with classic surgery.
